Raised beds are always a good choice for smaller spaces and for gardens where flowers, herbs and plants don’t grow very well. Instead of relying on the soil that you have in your backyard, you can use potting soil that is rich in nutrients to make your plants thrive and flowers grow beautifully. If you also want to keep people from trampling your flowers or avoid having to weed around the edges, then raised beds are great solution for you. You can use your creativity and immense imagination to create completely unique flower bed design.
Choose Shape
Once you picked a location, it is time to determine the shape of your flower beds. It can be a pathway, or it can be of any geometric shape.
Test Soil
Before planting the flowers or herbs, test the soil first. You can do that by taking a sample to a country extension office of your area or simply by using a soil test kit.

You can grow your flowers right from the beds or you can you can grow them in planters first to transplant them to the soil when they are strong enough.

Edging of the flower beds allows to define the shape. Stones and bricks are often used for this purpose.
