Here are 7 amazing places and activities you can find and do in Punta Cana:

  • Bavaro beach

Bavaro beach is one of the most famous and wonderful beaches of Punta Cana. It is situated in the north of this city and it is open to the public. The coast watches over the Caribbean sea and it has a crystal water, a white-fine sand and long lines of coconut trees that you will love. UNESCO declared it one of the best beaches of the world. Hotels, resorts, bars, “chiringuitos” and many other places provide you with a vast variety of tropical fruits and drinks to try. This beach is very popular because, apart from his beauty, you can also do lots of activities, like snorkeling, surfing, diving, having dinner on boats…

So, in a few words, Bavaro beach is the best place to both relax and have a good time!

  • Scape park – “Hoyo Azul”

The Scape park is an eco-adventure park situated at Cap Cana, 11 km away from Punta Cana. Some activities that you can find in this park are zip-line, “saltos azules”, cave expeditions, navigate along the coast in a catamaran, diving, take a swim in an underground spring and many more!

In my opinion, though, the best thing you can do is visit the “Hoyo Azul”, a cenote (from the Mayan language dzonot, that means “holy water”) located 75 mt high cliffs. This one of the most appreciated place by tourists because the water is crystalline and translucent, even though it is colder than water in Punta Cana.

  • Where to stay

In the last few years, along with the coast of Punta Cana, lots of resorts and hotels have been built due to the increase of tourism. There is a wide range to choose from and they could include a spa, big terraces, direct access to the beach, high-quality restaurants and so on.

One of the most famous ones is, for example, the Meliá Tropical All Inclusive Resort, located in Bavaro beach and it is suitable for couples, adults, and families. It provides you access to a golf course, to the Bavaro beach and casinos. There are 10 open-air swimming pools, 2 spas and, for children, there is a mini club.

  • Manatí park

Manatí Park is a park located in Punta Cana and there you can discover Dominican Republic’s flora and fauna. It is home to more than 150 species of wild animals and it is suitable for families. Every day there are new shows involving both animals and people. Some of the most interesting ones are swimming with the dolphins and getting close and touching other animal species like snakes, sea lions, crabs… You can also get in touch with a Dominican folklore culture: the Taíno’s people.

  • Cueva Fun Fun

The Cueva Fun Fun is one of the biggest caves of the Dominican Republic. It is located 20 mt under the ground and you need the help of a rope in order to get to the entrance of the cave. Inside the temperature is below 20 degrees and you can find huge tunnels and galleries with stalactites and stalagmites and hear the sound of the underground rivers. You will follow the bed of an underground river until it finally reaches the light in an area covered with enormous rocks and vegetation.
In this cave, you can have a “trip” in the past until the Stone Age and discover cave paintings.

It’s very difficult to summarise in a few lines all the beautiful things you can find in the Dominican Republic, so, my advice, is to go and visit it!
