The very best of luxury Costa Rica Vacations

Costa Rica has endless treasures to explore aboard a luxury charter yacht. On the Pacific Coast, the north offers the gorgeous resorts and golf courses of the exclusive Papagayo Peninsula, as well as the world-class Marina Papagayo. Dive coral reefs, swim with mantas and sharks, and explore the rainforest trails – or just laze away the days on the beautiful arcs of white sand beach nestled in lush bays.

Further down the coast the Manuel Antonio National Park is another high point, offering jaw-dropping beaches and incredible wildlife. Ride a horse along the sands, swim in the crystal clear water, or venture into the forest, where sloths and monkeys hang from the trees. The nearby town of Quepos is one of the world’s top destinations for sportfishing, while inland, the vibrant city of San Jose offers colonial architecture and fusion cuisines, as well as easy access to the Arenal volcano, where you can dine, spa, and soak in thermal springs at the foot of the brooding mountain.

Luxury Costa Rica vacations rise to a new level of opulence on the south Pacific coast, with a new large-capacity superyacht marina at Golfito that has really put this destination on the map. And little wonder, for the Osa Peninsula offers the world’s longest whale-watching season, superb sportfishing, and the incredible Corcovado National Park, where wildlife includes the rare tapir and jaguars. The south coast is also home to some exceptional surfing, particularly at the laid back village of Pavones, as well as the ethereally beautiful bioluminescence at Zancudo.

When to Go

A Costa Rica yacht charter is wonderful at any time of year, as Costa Rica lies outside the hurricane belt. The most popular time for charters is during the Caribbean winter season, from December to April, when the weather is dry and sunny and the temperature averages at around 27°C/81°F. Although June to August falls within the rainy season this is also a very pleasant time to visit, maintaining warm temperatures of around 26°C/78°F. July and early August also typically experience less rainfall than the rest of the wet season, a phenomenon known as the veranillo or ‘little summer’ amongst locals. This is particularly true in the Northern Pacific, where July now competes with December for tourist popularity.
