Nicholas Kahn and Richard Selesnick, two photographs in 2010, got an amazing idea to represent the world on one other planet than ours – Mars. Their project is called Mars: adrift on the Hourglass Sea.
After their first project Apollo Prophecies (2004), Kahn and Selesnick, inspired by the words of Edmund Burke: “Terror is in all cases the ruling principle of the sublime”, made this uncommon photography collection. It is a combination of science and si – fi elements and it is sure that it is worth to see the photos.

The photographs, actually want to represent what will happen if the Earth died or what was before Earth was discover. That is one magical moment of that project – it represent both times – past or future.

The photos are taken in Nevada and Utah Desert, but there are used photos of NASA Martian Rover images.

There are on the photos two women from Earth and many different shapes and materials. There are pyramids, canals, geodesic domes, giant balloons, concrete boats. But, on the other side, if you see more carefully, you will see that the women are kind of sad.

So, what do you think about this unusual photos collection? Do you imagine the life on Mars just like that? And do you like this Kahn and Selesnick’s project? Here you can find more of it!!
