Albuquerque, New Mexico has always been thought of as a laid-back, easygoing place to live.  Whether it’s employment, education, or just the thrill of moving to a new place, millennials in particular have been migrating to Albuquerque.  Here are just a few reasons millennials love Albuquerque.

The Job Market

Because Albuquerque is relatively small, the job market is less competitive than bigger markets like New York or Los Angeles.  Albuquerque is also home to some of the best companies to work for, like Intel, Verizon Wireless and General Mills.  Because of this, millennials are finding it easier to become employed in Albuquerque without sacrificing the desire to live in a fun and exciting area.

Affordable Housing

One of Albuquerque’s biggest draws is it’s affordable housing market.  Homes for sale in Albuquerque are significantly cheaper than homes in other parts of the southwest, and more and more millennials are taking advantage of this.  Students at the University of New Mexico find that housing is very affordable, prompting students from other universities to consider transferring schools just for that reason alone.  Affordable housing is perhaps one of Albuquerque’s strongest assets.

Amazing Weather

Albuquerque is almost synonymous with great weather, and any millennial who lives there can vouch for that.  The summers are hot but not unbearable, and the temperature rarely exceeds 99 degrees.  The winters are mild, with averages somewhere in the 40-50 degree range.  Year-round pleasant weather is just one of the many things that makes Albuquerque a great place to live.

Vibrant Nightlife

Because Albuquerque is a big college town, there are countless bars, restaurants and music venues for millennials to explore on weekends.  If you’re a fan of live music, there’s Launchpad Nightclub, a small bar that frequently hosts fun, unique shows with bands of every genre.  If you’re more of a sports bar person, then you’ll love Twin Peaks, a restaurant that serves comfort food like burgers and fries in a laid-back, informal environment.  No matter what your interests are, there’s something for everybody in Albuquerque, which is another reason millennials love it.
