Pumpkins are true representatives of the lovely fall season. You can decorate your home and outdoors with them in so many possible ways. For instance, they can be part of your table decor, you can set several of them on the porch, make a wreath out of some mini pumpkins etc. Also, you can easily carve them and use them as planters or vases. So, today, we would like to give you several tips of how to make some such lovely pumpkin planters and vases.

First of all, you should get the right pumpkins, the ones that are big enough to fit in the plants. When you have the right ones, carefully cut a wide circle around the top edge of the pumpkin and remove the top. Make sure to cut wider than you would for a regular Jack-O-lantern since you will have to put live plants in the pumpkin and you will need to fill it with dirt.

So, once you have removed the top and clean the inside, it’s time to drill some holes. Flip over the pumpkins and drill 4 holes straight through the bottom to allow for drainage. Then, flip the back over and fill in a shovel full of dirt into the base of the pumpkin. Slide down the plants into the pumpkin and fill in dirt around the remaining empty areas inside and near the top of the pumpkins. Water the plants and find their perfect spot on the porch, on the sides of the outside staircase or anywhere else around your home. Scroll don now to see our collection of pumpkin planters and vases and do not hesitate to make some too. Enjoy!
