What shiny trinkets for which occasions

Having beautiful and dazzling jewellery pieces in your collection can feel amazing. But sometimes it might be confusing trying to decide which piece you should wear for a special occasion.

Luckily, we’ve put together some tips to help you figure out what jewellery to wear for different occasions.

Casual days at work

Today, most of our meetings with clients and colleagues are commonplace. With COVID-19 forcing more people to work from home, virtual meetings have become the norm.

You can consider wearing cheap and decorative jewellery for these virtual meetings and days where you’ll mainly communicate over email. You should save your “dress up” jewellery for essential conferences and meetings in person.

Your decorative jewellery can include colourful earrings or a large necklace. It’s also highly affordable, so you’ll have peace of mind if it breaks or if you lose your jewellery.

The office, virtual or otherwise, isn’t the place to show off your flashy jewellery. So it’s best to keep it in a safe place. No one wants to be part of an office search party for a lost piece of jewellery.

Job Interview

Going for a job interview can be one of the most nerve-wracking and uncomfortable experiences that we have to deal with. You’re trying to convince someone, a stranger in most cases, to trust you with a job.

On top of this nerve-wracking experience, you need to decide what to wear to make an excellent first impression. You’re treading a fine line of wanting to be memorable while looking professional and responsible.

You want to avoid wearing big hoop earrings or plenty of decorative jewellery for the job interview. These types of jewellery can be too distracting for the interviewer.

You should wear very little jewellery during the interview. During the interview, your nerves might cause you to fidget with your rings or earrings.

When to wear a brooch

When we think of a brooch, we might think of an old-fashioned and outdated piece of jewellery. This kind of thinking might be because nowadays, we don’t see many brooches decorating our outfits.

Back in the day, our grandmothers and great grandmothers would wear brooches. But it’s most likely that they weren’t working mothers. Nowadays, young mothers are working and don’t have plenty of opportunities to wear formal jewellery for a brooch.

Today, even before COVID-19, there are few chances to go formal affairs where you need to    wear a brooch and other formal jewellery. Let’s face it, how many of us will get an opportunity to go to a fancy ball with the Royal family?

Jewellery for when you are with children

We all know that children like to touch and pull on shiny things. Because of this, there are some jewellery pieces that you need to avoid when you’re around children.

You should avoid wearing big hoop earrings or any kind of dangling earrings. Babies and young children love to pull on these pieces, which can be pretty painful. If they get your jewellery free, it can also be a choking hazard.

If you’re a mom, or even an aunt or a family friend, there’s a good chance that you’ll be going to plenty of children’s parties with plenty of hyper children who’ve had plenty of sugary treats.

For these occasions, you’ll want to wear cheap and decorative jewellery. At a children’s party, there’s a good chance that your jewellery will break or get lost. If it’s a cheap piece of jewellery, you can quickly fix it or replace it.

On Holiday

Going on holiday is one of the few occasions where you can relax and have fun. The kind of jewellery you need will depend on where you spend your holiday.

If you are going somewhere warm like the Caribbean or even sunny Spain, you could wear colourful jewellery. You might even opt to wear something you bought while on vacation.

But if you choose a cold location such as a ski resort, you can make do with a pair of diamond earrings or diamond bracelets and a simple black outfit. If you are travelling internationally, you shouldn’t wear expensive jewellery.

If you travel internationally and show that you have expensive jewellery, you could become a target for thieves, pickpocketers, and kidnappers.

Your anniversary and other special occasions

If you’re planning a special date night with your partner or a romantic anniversary celebration with your significant other, you’ll obviously want to dress to the nines.

And why not? These special occasions are big days. In some cases, you can wear the same jewellery you wore on the big day. This is a popular choice with many couples.

If you’ve been together for a long time, you don’t have to wear a single piece of jewellery that your significant other has given you over the years. You can simply choose to wear your favourite piece or one with the most sentimental value.
