Are you unhappy with your appearance?

If so, you’re not the only one, as a survey of 5,000 women has revealed 73 per cent think about their size or shape every day, with six out of 10 stating their body image has made them feel depressed.

Admittedly, we all have days when we look in the mirror, let out a heavy sigh and wish we could click our fingers to swap bodies with Kate Moss and trade heads with Kelly Brook.

Although Brian Weiss famously claimed happiness comes from within, a whopping 65 per cent of those surveyed felt their life would “improve considerably” if they were happy with their body.

These days, of course, many unsatisfied women simply turn to plastic surgery in a bid to find body happiness, with 67 per cent of females claiming they’d definitely or possibly go under the knife.

Despite this, however, there are still a number of natural ways – tried and tested methods – to improve your appearance without the need for surgery and forking out exorbitant sums of cash.

Here are three of the best …

Effective Skincare Products

As we get older, it’s inevitable the odd grey hair and wrinkle will combine in an attempt to rob us of our youth – but it doesn’t have to be that way. Thanks to a veritable smorgasbord of treatments, you can visibly tighten any loose skin and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

For example, Cold Plasma Sub-D is an effective treatment for the neck, specially formulated to improve the appearance of an ageing jawline, chin and neck. Great news if you’re worried about your double chin or jowls giving away your age.

Exfoliate! Exfoliate! Exfoliate!

Like some kind of beauty-obsessed Dalek monotonously repeating the merits of exfoliation, we believe it’s incredibly important to exfoliate on a daily basis, lest your skin looks flakier than a Cornish pasty in a snowstorm.

As you know, your skin produces new cells continually, which means dead cells sit on top of the skin, making it appear duller than Ed Miliband and drier than a Ryvita left in the desert sun. For best results, make sure you moisturise your skin after you’ve exfoliated.

Get More Shuteye

In all seriousness, who actually has time for sleep these days? When we’re not busy smashing the glass ceiling at work or dealing with unruly kids, the best we can manage is 30 minutes in between rounds of washing up and replying to emails – but this simply isn’t good enough.

When you’re more sleep deprived than an insomniac on a Red Bull binge, it’ll start to show in your appearance, as deep sleep renews our cells and leaves us feeling refreshed. Without regularly getting enough shuteye, then, your mirror will quickly begin to show the alarming effects.

Although the tips above are designed to give your beauty regime a natural jumpstart, we’d love to hear some other ways you’d advise our readers to improve their appearance – please let us know by leaving a comment below.
