To avoid this, pick the right size. How to determine this? An area rug should be big enough to cover the floor under the furniture, or at least the front legs.

Too much space between furniture

Arranging your furniture seems to be a hard task. When you set up the seating space,keep in minds that the pieces should not be too apart. Armchairs, sofa and coffee table should be pretty close. The idea is to have a neat seating area that will be comfortable for a friendly conversation. Too much distance between the people can be a big obstacle for the conversation. The distance between the coffee table and sofa should be 8-18 inches. The distance between the chairs should be 4-12 inches.

Proper lighting

The living room is the space where you would pass most of the day. This means that it needs to have proper lighting. For the day, use as much of the natural sunlight as you can. And for the night, you will need more than one source of light. Ambient lighting is the term that describes the overall lightning in a room, and comes with chandelier and pendant lights.
