Since they can be quite expensive, we might trick ourselves into buying a smaller one that will do the trick. But in reality, this does not work. A small rug will shrink down your living room. To avoid this, pick the right size. How to determine this? An area rug should be big enough to cover the floor under the furniture, or at least the front legs.

Too much space between furniture

Arranging your furniture seems to be a hard task. When you set up the seating space,keep in minds that the pieces should not be too apart. Armchairs, sofa and coffee table should be pretty close.  The idea is to have a neat seating area that will be comfortable for a friendly conversation. Too much distance between the people can be a big obstacle for the conversation. The distance between the coffee table and sofa should be  8-18 inches. The distance between the chairs should be 4-12 inches.
