The hype surrounding marijuana legalization is quite significant, and you would think that it is the best thing ever to happen. Well, for some of us, it means fully expressing our love for weed without the fear of getting nabbed – what could be better than having the liberty of releasing some refreshing cannabis smoke at a resort somewhere with others that share the same passion?

You might also be thinking of going with the flow and having a few marijuana plants of your own – who knows; you may actually turn out a complete success and smile all the way to the bank. However, this is not always as easy as it sounds and you need a great growlight for marijuana to start. There are dynamics and mistakes new growers make. The following are some of them.

  • Not Having a Good Plan

The excitement of eventually having a bountiful marijuana bud harvest is understandable. However, this excitement can easily blind you from the reality. The fact is marijuana cultivation is not an easy job. You will need to dig your knees deep into the dirt. And it’s not just during the growing season but the entire life stages of the plant.

Preparation is critical. Have all the necessary knowledge before you so that you are well-armed. For example, the amount of light, pest controls, CO2, nutrients, and water.

  • Going for the Poor Strains

The new entrants are not willing to invest in the right gene of marijuana seeds. They mistakenly think that any seeds will do as long as you stick them into the fertile ground but nothing could be further from the truth. Starting out with the wrong strains is a sure way of setting yourself for failure and total discouragement.

  • The Soils and Nutrients

Those that are pretty much green in marijuana cultivation may not conduct the right research regarding the right portion of nutrients the plants need. Well, what they don’t know is that gardening is not as easy as grabbing a pack of any fertilizers from the nearest store and feeding it to the plants.

There is an ideal ratio of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium (NPK) the cannabis plants need at every stage of growth. The NPK ratio is usually displayed on the pack.

  • Maintaining the  Right PH

The majority of new growers are not privy as to how much critical maintaining the right PH level is. As a matter of fact, the correct PH is the difference between a successful marijuana plant and one that is frail and prone to diseases.

  • Too Many Nutrients

A condition known as a nutrient burn is quite common among novice cannabis growers. This is where they feed the young plant excessively with the thinking that doing so will stimulate growth. Ideally, you should start with little nutrients and increase gradually.

  • Overwatering

Container growers can make one costly mistake of overwatering their cannabis plant. They wrongly think that watering the soil until it gets damp is ideal. However, this only deprives the roots of necessary oxygen and can be detrimental to plant growth.

  • Wrong Pruning

Like with nutrient feeding, beginner cannabis growers can sometimes be a little overzealous in pruning. In the majority of cases, less is better. While pruning can enhance the growth of your cannabis plant, it can also be significantly detrimental to its growth when you overdo it.
