When you think of VIP travel, Stansted Airport probably isn’t the first location to pop into your head.

It’s not a bad airport by any means, and it’ll get you from A to B with ease. But it’s also not exotic, glamorous, filled with testaments to art and culture like many other (and, let’s face it, slightly better) airports.

As one of the largest airports in the UK, chances are most British travellers have made their way through the security checks at Stansted and lounged in one of its many cafes and duty-free shops.

If you’re one of them, you may have wanted to have improve your trip. Maybe you even wanted to inject some of that aforementioned glamour into your departure lounge sojourn.

We can help you. With a few of these tips, you’ll go from being glumly herded through the airport to feeling like Scarlett Johansson ushered along an A-listers red carpet.

So let’s go – come fly with us and feel the decadence.

Private parking

You’ve driven to the airport. Traffic jams, red lights, dodgy drivers tailing you like you’re a shamus in a Raymond Chandler novel – the problems have mounted and you can feel your blood pressure medication failing fast.

Take a breath. At least you’ve booked Stansted Airport parking.

Stansted Airport offers a huge variety of airport parking providers (here’s our favourite) and many will offer valet services which collect your car directly from the terminal. From there, they’ll drive your car to a secure car park and look after it for the duration of your trip.

This is the lap of luxury to kickstart your journey – just remember to book early for the best rates.

VIP lounge

Stansted Airport offers a VIP service in the form of the Escape Lounge, a private lounge that gives you the chance to avoid the hustle bustle of the airport’s main walkway.

For a nominal fee, you’ll be able to enjoy a warm meal, a glass of bubbly and excellent service.

Again, this is a popular service so be sure to book early and avoid disappointment.

Shop till you drop

As you make your way to your flight, you’ll be hit with more excellent duty free shops than your bank card can handle.

Some of our favourites include the Dixons Travel Store, Estee Lauder and Yves Saint Laurent’s make up store.

And once you’ve maxed out your credit card, treat yourself to a meal from one of the duty-free’s great restaurants.

Follow these tips and you’ll be drowning in luxury – and your trip to the airport will be the highlight of your journey, whether you’re flying on business or sunning it in Barbados.
