Wedding dress trends tend to swap and change about every year but one recurring theme that seems to keep popping up time after time is the classic vintage style dress that so many brides adore. This type of dress comes with many different alternations and accessories, which is why we will be looking at each one individually.

Sheer Gowns

Wedding Dresses on Bride Online come in every style imaginable but one of the biggest 2015 wedding dress trends is the beautiful and sophisticated sheer gown. These can either have lots of overlays, lace or netting which gives the dress an instant vintage effect. The idea is to create the illusion of showing more skin.

Full Skirts

For a classic princess-style dress with a hint of vintage appeal, opt for the full skirt assembly that is made up of lighter fabrics. This trend is very popular right now with many brides choosing to walk down the aisle in an elegant and almost ‘Disney style’ dress.

Off the Shoulder

A style which can suit every body type is the vintage style ‘off the shoulder’ wedding dress. This can either be off both or just one shoulder and gives the bride a timeless and flattering look.

Tea Length

Probably the most ‘vintage’ a dress can get is the classic 1940’s tea length dress that is both fun and flirty. According to Confetti, this dress is going to be increasingly popular in 2015 and is ideal for those looking to have a ‘low key wedding or a second dress for the evening’. The key features of the dress are a nipped in waist and a full tea length skirt.

Necklines

Head turning necklines are on trend this year and as long as your neckline is dramatic, you’re bang on style. This can include various alterations such as a high neck, plunging neckline or halter neck. Dramatic necklines have been seen walking up and down the catwalks recently with many examples showing up on Vogue.

Long Sleeves

Ever since the Duchess of Cambridge wore a stunning long sleeved wedding dress back in 2011, the trend has remained popular and become something of a classic. It gives the bride an instant elegant look and the sleeves are usually laces, billowing or sheer.

Trousers

Although this trend may not be seen as vintage by some, it is a hot trend this year. According to Vogue, the ‘Seventies are back for Spring/Summer and the hippy chic wardrobe of the era’s fashion icons has never looked cooler… boho brides-to-be are looking to the past for their wedding dress inspiration.’ Wearing trousers on your wedding day will appeal to the bride who wants to be completely comfortable and at ease on her special day.

Colours and Themes

In 2014 the most popular wedding colour was radiant orchid. For 2015 however, the colour palette has been inspired by nature, reflecting floral art and tropical landscapes. Colours such as aquamarine, custard and tangerine are growing ever popular. The vintage Great Gatsby theme for weddings was also very popular last year and is expected to remain just as popular throughout the year.
