If your bedroom is not too big, then a storage bed is definitely a better choice then a regular one. The storage space underneath the bed will help you organize some of your stuff and thus keep your bedroom neat and organized. And although you will usually buy some such bed, there is a chance to build one and today we want to show you can do it.
This DIY project is not that difficult as it may sound and it will cost you about $350. Of course, this doesn’t include the mattress. You won’t need any special skills for cutting and assembling, but you will need someone to help you handle the materials.
Here is a list of the materials that you will need:
- ¾-inch medium-density fiberboard (MDF)
- ⅜-inch MDF beadboard panels
- 1×2 primed MDF trim
- 8-foot lengths for the stiles, rails, and cap.
- Victorian-era door casting kit, ½x3 lattice strip shoe molding
- 1¼-, 1½-, and 2-inch MDF screws
- 2½-inch deck screws
- 1½-inch 18-gauge brads
- construction adhesive
- wood glue
- ¾-inch quarter-round
- 150=grit sandpaper
- primer and paint
