There’s an essential difference between the questions ‘Why do we clean our homes?’ and ‘Why should we clean our homes?’
For the first question, here’s the answer: Keeping your living space clean as well as tidy turns it into a safe and non-hazardous environment. Dust and other allergens will be at bay when you do this. Also, cleaning on a regular basis keeps the environment in your home safe for your family, particularly anyone with allergies.
The first question is primarily based on daily needs and the fact that we are required to do it as part of our hygiene. The second question highlights the importance of cleanliness on our brain, as well as our body.
Doing a thorough cleaning of your home can also sharpen your brain. It will also help you to clear out any clutter and keep your home space, and your thoughts, organized. Won’t lie, but deep cleaning your residence is a mundane task. But, studies have proven that it helps one feel a sense of accomplishment, happiness and pride.
It’s just a matter of sheer willpower and willingness to keep your property clean. Here, I list a few points which might come in handy while you plan the process.
- Pick up clothing from the floor and bed:
By far, the most notable clutter in a bedroom is definitely loose clothing, usually in the morning, which usually lies around on the floor. Collect all the clothes from around the floor and gradually sort them into piles, meant for the laundry.
- Keep your Garage Organized:
Be part of the solution, not the pollution.
Junk cleanup is a big issue, and you need to make sure that you carry this one out timely, for it may result in a huge pile-up. This mainly happens when you’re busy with your work, school, and other things in your day to day life. Call a junk removal service for all those unusable items you have stored over the years- namely old furniture, that old mailbox, rusty tools that have not been used in years, and multitudes of other items.
- Desk cleanup:
By cleaning your desk, you can be way more focused. In the absence of all those extra sticky notes, office supplies and piles of papers scattered around your desk, you’ll be much less distracted so you can actually focus on the task at hand. It will also boost your productivity and morale, keeping you focused on the task at hand.
Organize your small supplies and tidy your paperwork. Moreover, use drawers to store the paper and supplies that aren’t of everyday use.
- Organize your closet:
A clean, organized closet is very essential. It can streamline your morning ritual, with all that extra space giving you an excuse to expand your wardrobe.
For starters, you should declutter your clothes by category. Then, empty your closet and clean it up. While storing clothes, make sure to categorize them. If you do not already have this habit, make sure to hang all delicate, fancy, or sturdy materials.
- Do not eat in bed:
Eating in bed stimulates disruption in one’s sleep ritual, making sleep deficient. Change your bed sheets often and keep your mattress clean. It becomes a daunting task, especially if you are in the habit of eating in bed often. Doing so makes your bed a potential breeding ground for bacteria and germs.
There’s an inside tip that I use, apart from all those listed above, something that has helped me a lot in my cleaning endeavours. Every day, I pretend that my favorite person will be coming to my house. In my case, that does happen sometimes as my mother pays me occasional visits sometimes, but it has made me extremely vigilant of my room’s cleanliness. Surely we won’t want our loved ones to see this side of our life right? Try using room air fresheners as well.
